Diamondbacks' 2B Johnson named NL Player of the Month

05/03/2010 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Kelly Johnson has been named the National League Player of the Month for April.

Johnson led the National League with nine home runs and a .750 slugging percentage in 22 games. Overall, he hit .313 with a .404 on-base percentage, 18 runs batted in and five multi-hit games.

Included among those games was a pair of multi-home run performances. He hit two in an April 7 win over San Diego, as well as in an April 23 victory against Philadelphia. Johnson also recorded a season-high four hits on April 29 against the Chicago Cubs.

Other players receiving votes were the Brewers' Ryan Braun, Florida's Jorge Cantu, St. Louis' Albert Pujols, the Dodgers' Andre Ethier, Atlanta's Martin Prado and San Francisco's Pablo Sandoval.
